Mercy Road was established in 1999 as a ministry of Seaport Community Church with the purpose of bringing the Gospel message outside the church walls and into the community.  Over the years, the band has always remained a three or four piece band with a wide variety of musical styles, but mostly gravitating towards blues rock.

Mercy Road has had the opportunity to play at youth events, coffee houses, Christian festivals, and most recently the Vietnam Traveling War Memorial...but their favorite venues are biker rallies.

Mercy Road has been to the Black Hills Biker Rally in Sturgis, SD a number of times to play at campgrounds, parks, tent meetings, and even on Main Street.  A highlight for the band was being invited to Daytona Bike Week on Daytona Beach in Florida.

When asked about traveling with the band, Pastor Debbie said, "Taking our music outside the walls of the church and bringing it to 'every man' is an awesome feeling.  You would be surprised at the positive response that we have received and the conversations that have been launched through our music."

Pastor Debbie Whipple

Debbie is from Wisconsin.  She sings lead, plays the keyboard and writes some of the bands music.  She started singing when she was five years old and hasn’t stopped since.  She considers the guys in the band to be family and never wants to get too old to ‘rock’.

Michael "MJ" Roy

What happens when you give a one year old a pair of drum sticks and a pot to beat on?  He grows up to be a drummer, of course.  MJ is from Northern New England and has literally been playing the drums all his life. He has toured with Matisyahu as a drum tech and is one of Mercy Road's original members. Some of his inspiration comes from Neil Peart, Carter Beauford, Zoro, and Sheila E.
